About The Dirty Diaries of Daisy May:
‘The Dirty Diaries of Daisy May’ is a fun, light hearted but rather dirty series of short stories involving the sexual exploits and romps of a blossoming young woman. Daisy May has always been considered by everyone around her as a bright, pretty and sweet girl-next-door type of person. However, she decides to start a secret journal on becoming an adult at 18 years of age, so as to record all her sexual experiences for posterity. Interestingly, her sexual encounters tend to be the result of her forgetful and accident prone nature. This aspect of her nature tends to leave her in compromising situations whereby she ends up always being given ‘service’ beyond the call of duty from her rescuer(s).
‘The Dirty Diaries of Daisy May : Book One – Into Adulthood With a Bang’ is the first entry into Daisy May’s diary. Daisy May has just turned 18 and her parents celebrate with a lavish party at the local Country Club. Things take an interesting turn as she bumps into her first childhood sweetheart George at the party. An unexpected voyeuristic encounter followed later by a moment of forgetfulness, leaves Daisy compromised, spread eagle and horny beyond belief………

An Interview With Megan Diamond:
1. When did you know you wanted to become a writer? How long have you been writing?
Some of my earliest memories are associated with jotting down little ideas and doodling. Maybe I was a bit unusual because I just loved to draw out letters of the alphabet in as many different styles as possible. My parents still have a couple of scrapbooks from when I was a toddler and it’s clear to see that I was hooked on writing from a very young age. The writing between 6-12 years old was associated with little stories about my pets, friends and toys. Looking back now, I must say that they were usually upbeat and rather quirky little creations! I still did the things all children do but it was always a special time when I was alone and could create a little fantasy world with pen and paper. It followed that as a teenager, I always did far better at the arts, literature and humanities rather than science and maths. It was probably when I was about 16 that I began to consider a future career as a writer and this influenced me to go and study literature at University. When I completed my degree, I did various freelance writing jobs to sharpen my skills and bit by bit I began to get more and more work published. This has really taken off in the last few years with growth of e-readers such as the kindle.
2. How do you go about the process of writing? Do you have a special routine?
Even though I’m quite computer literate and can type fast, I still prefer to do the initial drafts using pen and paper. My friends and other professional writers always have a good laugh at this but I still find it feels a more organic process. I have learned to structure my time and will usually start writing by 10am having had a workout and breakfast first. Then I will usually write for 45 minutes and take a 15 minute break and repeat this cycle twice. In the afternoon, I sometime do freelance work and catch up on e-mails to publishers, readers etc. I also set aside at least 1 hour a day to read other peoples books. Then in the evening I will aim to write for another another one to two hours. Although some writers are capable of having multiple books on the go, I find that I prefer to work on each book in sequence until it is complete. Most books will have a rough draft followed by several revisions prior to forwarding them to my current publisher, Erotica Publications, to be proofread and checked. Once everything is OK, we decide with a graphics artist upon the cover design and hey presto, Erotica Publications see to all the publishing and marketing aspects of the book.
3. Can you tell us what the book is about?
The Dirty Diaries of Daisy May was always intended to be a fun and light hearted series of short stories involving the sexual exploits and romps of a blossoming young woman. I’ve always felt slight clumsy and accident prone so I thought I’d introduce these aspect into the character of Daisy May. She’s a warm and likeable person, rather naive yet open-minded enough to grasp opportunities that come her way. Her sexual awakening reflect these character traits and her liaisons are recorded in a diary format that reveal her increasing desire to experience and enjoy all things of a sexual nature.
Interestingly, I did have a number of well-known magazines vying to publish the series but they wanted the material to be toned down in certain places. In the end I decided that the Daisy May series should appear as was originally conceived, and I’m happy to say that Erotica Publications published the work unchanged.
4. What was your favorite part of writing the book? The hardest part?
I enjoy mixing in some of my own past sexual encounters with a sprinkling of yet to be realized fantasies…who knows, maybe they will be fulfilled at some time in the future;-) The biggest problem I have is keeping the stories to the length intended. I just love to write which can sometimes be problem as I can easily get carried away. These are meant to be fun, arousing short stories that chronicle Daisy May’s sexual encounters book by book. Each encounter is not intended to be a novel; my readers have specifically requested a series that can be read in small parts, yet each part is arousing and can stand on its own merit.
5. What are you working on now?
I am currently working on some new books in the Daisy series but have begun initial work on a new erotic series. This will be quite different to the Daisy May and I’m really excited with the draft of the opening book. Without giving too much away at this stage, it will have a strong underlying story line involving a main female character. It should be very moody and evocative….
6. What is your favorite part of being an author?
I love the freedom it brings and the outlet it gives me to dissipate the negative human emotions that we all experience on a day to day basis. It’s very liberating and therapeutic, plus, I can be my own strict boss!
7. How do you spend your free time?
I love to workout each day for around 45 minutes – it really de-stresses and energizes me for the day. Also, I still practice (though not enough) the guitar most days and love to listen to all styles of music. Apart from that, reading is a passion and spending time with close friends is really important to me.
8. What books are you currently reading?
I do check out many other writers in the Erotica niche but also read books of many other genres. At the moment, I’m reading the wonderful Vikram Seth’s novel, ‘A Suitable Boy’. Very, very different genre to the Daisy May series but a beautiful and evocative novel set in India at the time of its independence.
9. If you could give any advice to your readers, what would it be?
Don’t box yourself in mentally and certainly don’t ever believe that you are defined by what others think of you. Keep an open mind and collect as many experiences as you can throughout your life.
10. If you could give advice to new writers, what would it be?
As cliched as it sounds, never, ever give up. If you are serious and genuine about being a writer, bring some structure into the way you organize yourself. Set aside a certain amount of time each and every day. Some days you will feel less inspired than others but always try to get something down. People procrastinate and find excuses for not doing things but I’ve found the key for me is to aim to build my body of work day by day. If you don’t write something you will have nothing to edit! Also, read, read and read. Read books of all genres so that over time you begin to define what idiom really speaks to you. It’s the unique mixture of what you’ve read over the years that will help you as a writer to be an individual in any given genre. Writing can be hard work but it sure beats a 9-5 job in my eyes any day. Invest in your career and study, explore and build your portfolio. If you do this, when an opportunity arises (and it will), you can then be in a position to capitalize on it, grab it and run with it. If you need help along the way don’t be afraid to ask for it. Speak to other writers or contact a publisher in the genre you write for. Finally, write, write… and write even more 🙂
